Catching Laughter on Camera
There are a lot of different looks that subjects want when being photographed, and each of them has their own unique set of needs in order to get the look just right. Laughter is always a great emotion to catch with a camera, but it can be tricky to get the timing down. When shot well, though, it can make anyone who looks at the photo smile for years to come. Nailing the shot takes some thought and careful preparation on the part of both the photograph and the subject. Proximity is vital: it's just not going to work if those being photographed aren't close enough together. The farther apart individuals in a shot are spread, the harder it becomes to capture that connection they make when they laugh together. It's important to have everyone snuggle up tightly together right before a laughing shot is taken. Our photographers will often bring your heads close together in order to really bring everyone in. If your whole family is in the shot then height is likely going to be a factor. A lot of work might have to go into positioning everyone properly. It might be a bit of a pain for you, but just stay patient and think about how great the family's going to look when the pictures are printed out! Laughing shots often come out best when the photographer is close to the subjects, too. So don't get nervous if the photographer has to move in really close. It's from up close that some of the best shots are going to be gotten. The reason this technique works so well with laughing shots is that people tend to focus more on the laughing than the camera, and that genuine emotion is best captured from up close. We're confident that you'll be more than satisfied with the results and won't consider Glamour Shots to be a ripoff – no one ever does – but rather a great deal.
